SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee is in attendance for the massive DuncanvilleDeSoto game on Friday, which was billed as the Game of the Year in Texas High School Football. Lashlee was seen on the sidelines for the 2nd half, catching the game between two Top 10 teams in the state.

The SMU commits on the field include DeSoto four-star wideout Daylon Singleton and three-star safety Sael Reyes. Duncanville has three-star defensive backs Tyren Polley and Javion Holiday on the field for the Panthers.

Singleton, who committed to SMU over a year ago, took a kickoff return back for a touchdown in the 1st half. He had another long return called back in the 2nd half.

Singleton is the No. 295 overall prospect, No. 47 wide receiver in the nation and No. 42 prospect in Texas, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He held offers from all over the country, including Auburn, Miami, Texas A&M and others.

On the On3 Industry Ranking, Reyes is highest-rated safety commit for SMU. Reyes is physically imposing, ranking as the No. 52 safety in the country.

It was Polley and Holiday that were stealing the show, helping Duncanville flex its muscles on DeSoto. It was a stifling defensive showing for the Panthers defense.

Holiday ranks as the No. 64 overall cornerback in the nation and No. 93 overall prospect in Texas. SMU landed his commitment in December over offers from Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M and others.

Polley and Holiday are back-to-back state champions with Duncanville. According to On3, Polley is the No. 56 overall safety in America. SMU held off a big push over the summer from TCU to flip Polley after landing his commitment in the spring.

The opportunity to play early at the safety position for Polley and Reyes is certainly there with players like CJ Sanders and Jonathan McGill graduating. Holiday will look to step in at a cornerback room that loses starter Brandon Crossley.

Rhett Lashlee catches North Crowley-Lake Ridge

SMU’s head coach wasn’t done though. Earlier on Friday he caught a game that was out of hand, catching Ft. Worth (Tex.) North Crowley take on Mansfield (Tex.) Lake Ridge.

Both teams had numerous SMU recruits on the field. Lashlee got eyes on two elite 2026 targets, seeing North Crowley’s John Turntine III, a five-star offensive tackle, and Lake Ridge’s Felix Ojo, a four-star offensive tackle.

Turntine is the 10th-ranked prospect nationally and the No. offensive tackle in America, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. Ojo is the No. 192 overall prospect and 18th-ranked offensive tackle prospect. Both prospects have visited SMU multiple times this year.

Talented 2025 FBS commits include North Crowley players four-star OL Henry Fenuku (Missouri), three-star LB Jonathan Cunningham (Texas), three-star RB Cornelius Warren (UNLV) and three-star ATH Chris Jimerson (North Texas).
