Rob Lanier, SMU players recap loss to Texas A&M
SMU Basketball fell 79-66 on Tuesday night in Moody Coliseum to Texas A&M. Head coach Rob Lanier, forward Tyreek Smith and guard Chuck Harris recap the game in the video above.
“It was a great challenge for us. It felt like win or lose. We were gonna learn a lot about ourselves. And I thought we fought,” SMU head coach Rob Lanier said. “We rallied back in the second half. We got it to four and then they turned it up defensively and we didn’t have a good enough response offensively. If you looked at the numbers, I think defensively we did a decent enough job that had we played better on offense, we would have given ourselves a little bit more of a chance.”
Up next for SMU is West Virginia in the Fort Myers Tip-Off in Florida on Monday. It was the first loss of the season for the Mustangs, who now head to an in-season tournament Thanksgiving Week.
“I expect them to fight. I do. I really believe that in this group,” Lanier said. “And that’s why I’m saying we’ll be off tomorrow, we’ll watch the film, and then and then we’ll do some individual work and some light work on Thursday and then we’ll have Friday, Saturday, Sunday to go live in preparation for Monday, travel on Saturday, I believe. I think when we get on the court on Friday, like I said, we will find out, but I expect us to get to learn from what we look at (on film) and Thursday and get right back into the fight on Friday and bring that to the to the tournament on Monday.”
