Samet Yigitoglu injury update: SMU big man exits Syracuse game with shoulder injury

SMU forward Samet Yigitoglu exited the game against Syracuse in the ACC Tournament with an apparent shoulder injury. The 7-footer from Turkey left with two points, two rebounds and three turnovers in the 2nd half.
Update: Yigitoglu checked back in for SMU, but only played a handful of minutes as the Mustangs pulled away for a 20-point win to advance to the quarterfinals against Clemson.
“I hope so. I hope so. He sat out one game earlier this year with an injury,” SMU head coach Andy Enfield said after the game when asked if Yigitoglu is expected to be fine. “We’ve had a lot of injuries. Boopie was out for five games, Samet one, Matt was out for a few. This is the time of year you need to be healthy. We’re hoping for the best.”
While the offense wasn’t coming for him, he had held Syraucse big man Eddie Lampkin, Jr. to just two points when he left the game with 11:19 to play.

“We’ve been a very good team in the paint this year,” Enfield said. “We’re not a high-volume, three-point shooting team. We’re a very good three-point shooting percentage-wise, but we score a lot of points in the paint, and that was one of our goals, to try to outscore them in the paint tonight. And to do that, you have to stop Eddie Lampkin, at least limit his touches, limit his chances around the rim. He had two shot attempts tonight, and then we had 30 points in the paint, so we did our job.”
The Mustangs held a double-digit lead when Yigitoglu exited the game. He returned to the bench with 8:06 to go.
SMU faces Clemson at 8:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2. The winner advances to face the winner of Louisville-Stanford in the semifinals.
