SMU adds another transfer in Texas WR Joshua Moore
Texas wide receiver Joshua Moore committed to SMU Monday night after an official visit to the Hilltop over the weekend. The Mustangs flipped Moore from Texas Tech, where he committed to in December.
Moore will graduate in May from Texas and will head to SMU in the summer. SMU also hosted him for an unofficial visit and a week later, he was on campus for an official visit, where SMU sealed the deal.
The former Yoakum High standout pulled in 24 catches for 265 receiving yards and three touchdown catches this past season with the Longhorns. In 2020, as a sophomore, Moore led Texas in receiving. He hauled in 30 catches, 472 receiving yards, and nine receiving touchdowns.
Through his three-year career at Texas, Moore had 61 receptions for 790 yards and 13 touchdowns. He entered the NCAA Transfer Portal in November.
In the 2018 recruiting cycle, Moore was rated as a four-star prospect according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 96 overall prospect in the country, No. 16 wide receiver in the nation and No. 9 prospect in Texas.

SMU continues to prioritize transfer portal
So far, SMU has added Michigan State tight end Kameron Allen, Illinois State linebacker Shanon Reid, Minnesota linebacker Jaqwondis Burns, Virginia linebacker Joseph Bissinger and North Carolina wide receiver Beau Corrales via the NCAA Transfer Portal.
The Mustangs will continue to address needs through high school and the NCAA Transfer Portal. Rhett Lashlee’s staff is now complete and churning full speed toward National Signing Day.
“I feel great. I am humbled that the guys we were able to get to come be a part of our staff, worked out the way that it did,” Lashlee told On The Pony Express on Friday. “For me it was all about getting the right men and women on our staff, and I know that they are all good people. If you have the right people, then you can fix everything else.
“I think we are starting off well, with classes starting back up this past Tuesday, got our players back and working out again.”
