SMU at Cal: How to watch, channel, stream, spread

The SMU Mustangs face the Cal Golden Bears in a late-night matchup Wednesday night on ESPNU with tip-off set for 10 p.m. CT. Andy Enfield’s coaching staff is used to facing the former Pac-12 team from their days at USC.
Now, they’ll have to be prepared, but the familiarity with the area can’t hurt. SMU is hopeful point guard Boopie Miller will be able to play Wednesday evening.
“Well, we always enjoy this trip. Did it 11 years in the Pac-12 at USC,” Enfield said Monday. “So our staff is very familiar with the Bay Area. Cal has a great place to stay, a great hotel we stay in, and Stanford. But they’re two tough places to play. We obviously have been there a lot, but it doesn’t make it any easier. We have to be prepared coming off a loss to try to play our best basketball this week.”

Last meeting, key starters for both teams were absent due to injuries in the Jan. 29 contest, as Cal was without Andrej Stojakovic (17.6 points per game) and Mady Sissoko (7.1 PPG, 7.5 rebounds per game) while SMU did not have Samet Yigitoglu (10.8 PPG, 6.5 RPG).
“Well, Cal has a lot of guys who can score at a basketball,” Enfield said. “They are very good defensively in spurts. With the shot blocker and some of the size that they have on the wings and inside. We just have to play our game. We know that road games are tough in this league. Most of our players have never been to California before so it’ll be an experience for us and hopefully we’ll have our best basketball on Wednesday night.”
Cal and SMU will face off for the first time in Berkeley and the second time as ACC counterparts. The Mustangs won 76-65 on Jan. 29 in Dallas in the programs’ first matchup of the season.
