Last game, SMU got point guard Boopie Miller back from his foot injury and he helped the Mustangs storm back to beat Syracuse on Senior Night. Enfield obviously was pleased to have Miller on the floor as Chuck Harris suffered a cut above his eye and BJ Edwards was battling illness.
“Well, we wouldn’t have been able to come back down 12 without Boopie,” Enfield said. “He was great, he controlled the game, he pushed the pace, he was very disruptive on the defensive end, especially in the second half. We’re just totally different, especially with BJ being sick today. If we didn’t have Boopie, we would have been in big trouble. So we’re just a different team with him.”
Hamilton is stepping down after a 23-year tenure. Barring a string of major upsets, that run likely will end next week at the ACC Tournament in Charlotte.
