The SMU Mustangs take on Virginia Tech Wednesday night at 8 p.m. CT on ACC Network in another tough test in conference play.
The Mustangs improved to 17-5 overall and 8-3 in the ACC record after an 85-61 victory over Stanford on Saturday. SMU has now won three straight and six of its past seven games. The Mustangs are 4-1 on the road in the ACC.
In the 85-61 win over Stanford, the Mustangs had 10 steals and held the Cardinal to 33.3 percent shooting. It was the third straight game SMU held its opponent under 35 percent.
Five Mustangs scored in double figures with Samet Yiğitoğlu recording a team-high 17 points with seven rebounds. Boopie Miller had a double-double with 10 points and 10 assists. Matt Cross and Kario Oquendo each scored 16 points and Chuck Harris added 14. Cross had a team-high eight rebounds.

Spread for SMU at Virginia Tech
Ahead of the matchup, SMU is listed as a 6.5-point favorite over Virginia Tech, per FanDuel on Tuesday. The Mustangs are also currently listed at -245 for the moneyline. As for Virginia Tech, the Hokies are at +198 on the moneyline.
The point total for the game is currently set at 145.5 points. Saturday, Virginia Tech beat Virginia, 75-74, the program’s first win in Charlottesville since 2018 and their first back-to-back win streak in the series since 2010. Guard Jaden Schutt had a career-high 18 points and big man Tobi Lawal scored 17 in the win.
SMU head coach Andy Enfield sees a tough matchup in Lawal for the Mustangs on Wednesday. The Mustangs treat every opponent the same, which is a reason why they’ve been able to play as well as they have as of late.
“I’m not sure what it told us about our team other than the fact that we played very well,” Enfield said of the win over Stanford. “We don’t focus on anything except the next game. Whether they’re top of the league or somewhere in between, we just try to focus on what we can and control what we can control.”
