SMU Basketball to face SEC opponent in non-conference play
SMU Basketball will face Texas A&M on Nov. 30 in College Station, sources told On The Pony Express. It’ll be the first meeting since a 55-52 win for SMU in 2013 and only the fourth meeting since 1996.
The Mustangs will also head to face the TCU Horned Frogs at Dickies Arena on Dec. 10, sources told On The Pony Express.
SMU will face Dayton on Nov. 11 at UD Arena, head coach Rob Lanier confirmed. The first schedule under Lanier is coming together, he told On3 last week.
“I think the fan base is going to be excited about the schedule,” Lanier said in an interview. “The Dayton thing is out there. I was torn about playing the game because they had already played them. I really want to extend our brand through scheduling. I think that’s part of what you do in scheduling is by virtue of who you select to play, you’re associating your brand with that brand. Dayton is a good one. They’ve kind of done some of the things we aspire to do. It was the best one available. We made the calls and I think we still netted out in a good place.”

The 13th edition of the ESPN Events men’s college basketball tournament will be played at the SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.
