SMU F Mo Njie to enter NCAA Transfer Portal
SMU forward Mo Njie will enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, leaving the Hilltop after two seasons, he announced on Twitter on Monday.
This season was a disappointment for him as he played in just 13 games for Rob Lanier, scoring 10 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. For SMU in 2022-23, he played in 25 games, notching 42 points, 39 rebounds and nine blocked shots.
Njie is the first scholarship player to enter the transfer portal after Lanier was fired by the university. He transferred from Eastern Michigan University prior to the Summer 2022 academic semester and will have on year of eligibility remaining.
SMU ushering in Andy Enfield era
SMU hired Andy Enfield to take over the program and lead it into the ACC. After leading USC for 11 seasons, Enfield is ready to lead the Mustangs and is excited about what he’s bringing to the program.

The path to the championship game is clear
“This is a premier institution, university in the country academically, athletically,” Enfield said at his introductory press conference. “We have to get to that point in the men’s basketball program. So it’s a challenge to the coaching staff, a challenge to the players and everybody within our program. We all have to do this together. I don’t do anything by myself.
“I have great support staff as a head coach, I try to hire the best people possible to do that. Recruit players that want to be here, that want to work and want to elevate this program to the national level. And so, what that looks like is to be determined, but we’re excited to get started immediately.”
