SMU Basketball opens with 82-63 win over SAGU
DALLAS (SMU) – Zhuric Phelps scored 24 points, Chuck Harris added 16 and Tyreek Smith had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds as SMU pulled away from SAGU for a 82-63 opening win at Moody Coliseum on Monday.
The Mustangs are undefeated in their past 12 season openers.
SMU pulled away in the second half, recording eight of its 13 steals after halftime while holding SAGU to 29.6% shooting after intermission. Chuck Harris and B.J. Edwards each had three steals.
The Mustangs host Western Illinois Wednesday at 6 p.m.
