SMU DE Jay Bell no longer listed on roster
SMU defensive end Jay Bell is no longer listed on the school’s online roster and is expected to transfer. The 6-4, 254-pound lineman saw action in just one game in 2021. This confirms On The Pony Express’ report from earlier this summer.
Bell would’ve been a part of a crowded defensive line room for first-year defensive line coach Calvin Thibodeaux. SMU has the likes of DeVere Levelston, Nelson Paul, Je’lin Samuels and others factoring in for significant playing time this year.
Coming out of Beaumont (Tex.) West Brook, Bell grey shirted and joined the program in January 2021. He helped West Brook to a runner-up finish in UIL 6A Division 2 in 2018 and touted offers from North Texas, UTSA and others.
