SMU commits gear up to recruit on massive official visit weekend
SMU will get numerous 2025 commits on campus for a huge official visit weekend May 17-19. Five of the six committed Mustangs as of now will be on campus to recruit for Rhett Lashlee & Co.
Four-star Duncanville (Tex.) quarterback Keelon Russell, three-star Duncanville (Tex.) defensive back Javion Holiday, three-star Duncanville (Tex.) safety Tyren Polley, three-star Arlington (Tex.) Mansfield Timberview defensive back Nathan Tilmon and three-star Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy defensive back Elijah Pratt will be on campus.
Russell committed to SMU in September and the Mustangs are hoping to hang onto the On3 Top 10 quarterback who has led Duncanville to back-to-back state titles. Russell swung through campus in January for a Junior Day visit.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, he’s the No. 111 overall prospect and No. 11 quarterback nationally.
Holiday ranks as the No. 57 overall cornerback in the nation and No. 90 overall prospect in Texas. SMU landed his commitment in December over offers from Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M and others.

Polley, Pratt and Tilmon jumped on board in 2024 as the spring recruiting period began to pick up. Polley is On3’s 29th-ranked safety in the nation and he held offers from Arkansas, Baylor, TCU and others before committing to SMU, continuing the Duncanville-to-Dallas pipeline.
Pratt held Auburn, Penn State and other offers before pledging to the Mustangs. He’s the 41st-best safety prospect in the country, according to On3. Pratt is a Dallas area native, transferring to IMG Academy from Arlington (Tex.) Mansfield Timberview this spring.
Tilmon holds Arkansas, Texas Tech, TCU and other offers, but opted to stay home to play for SMU. He’s the 38th-ranked safety in the nation, according to On3.
