SMU guard Jalen Smith enters NCAA Transfer Portal
SMU veteran guard Jalen Smith entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, sources told On3’s Jamie Shaw on Monday. Smith will have one year remaining at his next stop.
The Orlando, Fla. native started 35 of 94 career games played, averaging 4.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. He averaged 19.9 minutes per game over his career.
Smith saw reduced minutes last season under Rob Lanier, but his points and rebounds hit a career-high. He shot 42.1 percent from the field and 38 percent from three-point range last season as he averaged 5.9 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.
Smith joins guards Denver Anglin, Zhuric Phelps and Ricardo Wright as transfer portal entrants. SMU already lost forwards Xavier Foster and Mo Njie to the Transfer Portal earlier this month.

Smith’s move comes as SMU is fresh off landing the first commitment of the Andy Enfield era. Oregon senior guard Kario Oquendo committed to SMU, he announced on Instagram on Friday. This past season, Oquendo averaged 7.2 points and 2.4 rebounds per game for the Ducks. He also has one year of eligibility remaining.
