SMU offers North Texas transfer OL Howard Sampson
SMU joined the growing list of schools offering North Texas transfer offensive lineman Howard Sampson on Tuesday. The Humble, Texas native has three years of eligibility remaining.
He’s picked up offers from North Carolina, Texas Tech, Houston, Tulsa and others since entering the transfer portal.
Sampson, the 6-8, 325-pound lineman, was the top backup left tackle this season for North Texas. He played in two games for the Mean Green this year, suiting up against Tulsa and UAB.
“First and foremost, I want to thank God for allowing me to play the game I love,” Sampson said in his announcement. “Next, I would like to thank the University of North Texas and the city of Denton for the opportunities, experiences and lifelong connections I’ve made on and off the field for the past two years. North Texas will forever have a special place in my heart. With that being said, I’d like to announce that [I] will be entering my name in the transfer portal.”
