The SMU Mustangs take on the Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT on TNT/MAX in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
SMU is 1-0-1 all-time against the Nittany Lions. The two sides tied in their first meeting, which took place back in 1948. The Lions beat SMU 27-21 in 1978. Now, the stakes have never been higher.

The winner takes on Boise State on New Year’s Eve in the Fiesta Bowl in a 7:30 p.m. CT matchup against the Mountain West Champions.
For now though, it’s a chilly matchup with Penn State as an 8.5-point favorite at FanDuel. The total is 53.5 points.
