SMU vs. Cal: How to watch, channel, stream, spread
The SMU Mustangs take on the Cal Golden Bears on Wednesday at 8 p.m. CT in Moody Coliseum on ACC Network. The Mustangs are looking to build off a tight win at NC State over the weekend.
The Mustangs were able to grab a 63-57 win over the Wolfpack on Saturday. It was a much-needed bounce back performance after a tough showing vs. Louisville.
“Our team had two really good practices before the NC State game on the road,” SMU head coach Andy Enfield said this week. “We did not play well against Louisville at home. They played extremely well and proud of our guys for coming back and playing so hard in practice and then it carried over in a game to hold a team at under home court to 57 points. I thought our players individually and collectively as a team played really hard defensively the entire game.”

The point total for the game is currently set at 150.5 points. Cal has reeled off three straight wins – a road win at NC State followed by a home sweep of Florida State and Miami – to put itself back in the thick of the ACC standings following a 1-5 start in conference play. SMU has won four of its past five games and 11 of its past 14 contests.
“They’re very talented offense. Have a lot of guys could put points up quickly and they’re very well coached,” Enfield said of Cal. “We know them from the Pac-12, played against Cal the last 11 seasons so it’s nothing new for us to play against the Cal Bears, but they’ve won three in a row. They’re playing much better basketball. They’re very confident and they’re very explosive.”
SMU leads the series against Cal, 2-1. The last time the teams met, SMU advanced to the 2014 NIT semifinals (67-65) after Nic Moore hit a 3-pointer with 6.5 seconds left at Moody Coliseum. Cal won the first meeting in Dallas by a count of 88-84 in the 1967-68 season.
