SMU will play Charlotte on Sat., Sept. 30 at 6:30 p.m. CT on ESPNU, the school announced on Monday. It’ll be Family Weekend for the Mustangs that game as well as Youth Sports Day.

This week, SMU plays TCU at 11 a.m. CT in Ft. Worth on FS1 while Charlotte, which was picked last in the AAC preseason poll by the media, goes to Florida for a game on the SEC Network+ at 6 p.m. CT.

As SMU readies now for its matchup against TCU, the Mustangs are reviewing a 69-0 beatdown of Prairie View A&M on Saturday. It was lopsided, but SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee said there are still things to take away from the game.

“When we watch the film, we can evaluate a lot. I’ll have to see what that is. This is Game 3,” Lashlee told reporters. “Specifically, on defense, we’re about to play the best offense we’ve played all year next week. They got a lot of talent. They got an OC who knows how to score points. They can run it, they can throw it, they got two real backs. So we’re gonna have to continue to keep getting better. We can’t rest on the fact that we played pretty good the first three weeks.”

After opening the season with a 24-3 win over S.C. State, Charlotte has dropped games at Maryland and vs. Georgia State. The 41-25 loss to Georgia State last weekend came at home. SMU is 2-1 on the season heading into the Battle for the Iron Skillet.
