The point total for the game is currently set at 150.5 points. Despite Pitt jumping out to a huge start to the season and being in the Top 25, the Panthers have now dropped off a bit.
“Our whole thing is just whatever is in front of us. We have a lot to worry about or that’s on our plate with SMU,” Pitt head coach Jeff Capel said this week. “We’re not looking forward. We’re looking right in front of us and that’s all we can control is our effort and our preparation right now for SMU. We’ll head over to practice in a little bit and start getting prepared for them even more and get ready to play tomorrow.”
SMU’s coming off a hard fought win over Virginia Tech last week, which led to the Mustangs having the week off. The team enjoyed the Super Bowl and got back to refining its skills.
“Virginia Tech’s much better than their overall record,” SMU head coach Andy Enfield said this week. “They’ve won quite a few conference games now. That was a really challenging game. They played really well. It was a great atmosphere. It was a 9 p.m. game EST time. So we were in the gym trying to win a game at 11 p.m. at night. It was a good win for us. Since we’ve been back, just to catch our breath, the Super Bowl weekend here, it was nice to have a couple of days off and just revisit some skill work with our team and some things we have to do as a group to try to keep improving.”
