SMU WR Jordan Hudson talks about his huge showing vs. Boston College
SMU wide receiver Jordan Hudson is fresh off a huge performance against Boston College. Now, the former five-star prospect talks about his game, chemistry with Kevin Jennings and more.
What was it like for you to have a game like that? Just one yard short of a hundred yards, but a huge impact.
Jordan Hudson: “No, it just felt normal. Just getting back in my rhythm, connecting with Kevin. I mean, it just felt right again. It felt normal to get back on that type of timing and being able to be on the same page.”
Kevin mentioned after the game that you kind of felt you were due a game like this, that you guys have been connecting while in practice. Just what was your perspective on that? Did you feel like a game like that was coming?
Jordan Hudson: “Yeah, I knew it was coming. I just had to stay consistent. We’ve been missing each other during the game a lot, but connecting at practice a lot. We just keep talking to each other, telling each other to stay consistent. Just keep going. I mean, it’s gonna click. That’s really about it.”
You talked about, you know, your timing with Kevin improving. How much have you seen that improve with you but also the rest of the receivers as he’s gotten more experience?
Jordan Hudson: “I mean… it’s like night and day. Um, we just all got that chemistry, got that bond with him to where we all… we’re connected on a good page I think. With the other guys, I just feel like they’re patient with him as well. I mean, I just feel like we got a patient group and we’re all on the same page. So I mean, it’s really just, nobody’s been aggressive, trying to big dog him to throw them the ball, like we are all just on the same page and we’re winning, so whatever we’re doing is working.”

Where do you think that patience comes from? When you’ve got, you know, some games, it’s Roderick, some games, it’s Key’shawn, you obviously get yours – especially with receiver, where it’s a position where you want to have the ball.
Jordan Hudson: “I mean, I just feel like that’s just what the veteran group that we have, I mean we know all of us can go anywhere and start. Bottom line. But we like playing with each other. We like having fun and we actually get excited when our teammates make a play. So I mean, you know, there really just be no jealousy.
“I mean we all just loving God and we appreciate each other’s companies. So, I mean, it’s easy. That’s all I like to say. It’s easy.”
How important is blocking to you guys? How much is coach emphasizing that?
Jordan Hudson: “He’s not crazy like, ‘block, block, block,’ but he does emphasize blocking. That’s something we love and we thrive off it. We’re in the meeting room like who had the most pancakes in the game, who had the most blocks? We thrive off that. It gets our blood pumping.”
