TCU WR transfer Jordan Hudson commits to SMU
TCU wide receiver transfer and former On3 five-star Jordan Hudson committed to SMU, he announced. The one-time Mustang commit will fill a need for an additional outside threat for the Mustangs.
Hudson finished the 2022 season with 14 games under his belt, grabbed 14 balls for 174 yards and three touchdowns. He’ll have four years to play three seasons after playing as a true freshman this season.
On3 compared Hudson to former Ohio State star Jaxon Smith-Njigba, ranking Hudson as the No. 15 overall prospect and No. 2 wide receiver in the nation in the 2022 recruiting class. Sonny Dykes, who at one point had Hudson committed to SMU before leaving for TCU, was high on the 6-1, 190-pound wideout.
“I felt like Jordan Hudson was the best receiver I saw play this year in the state of Texas,” Dykes said when Hudson signed with the Frogs. “I was impressed with the way he dominated and I love his competitive nature. He’s just one of those kids that plays bigger than he is because he’s just so competitive. He fights so hard for the ball and has great ball skills and can run as well.”

Jordan Hudson high school scouting report
“Silky smooth, technical receiver with outstanding hands and ball skills. Has an advanced release package at this stage. Is able to create separation off the line of scrimmage. Moves with a natural fluidity within the route. A natural with the ball in the air, putting his basketball background to use. Locates and tracks the ball over his shoulder with ease. Can elevate to make some high-level one-handed grabs. One of the more productive receivers in the 2022 cycle, scoring 22 touchdowns on just 67 catches. Does not have recent verified athleticism. Looks to have solid speed, but wins more with his technical skills.”
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Hudson ranked as the No. 70 overall prospect and No. 9 wide receiver in the nation for the 2022 class.
Hudson totaled 195 receptions, 3,234 yards and 52 touchdowns in his prep career. He landed offers from all over the country, including Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M and others.
