Transfer DB Chasen Johnson flips from SMU, announces return to UCF
UCF transfer cornerback Chasen Johnson flipped from USC to SMU last month, but now he’s announced he’s returning to play for the Knights in 2025.
“Knight Nation, I’m Home,” he said on Instagram. “Once a Knight, Always a Knight. Let’s run it back!”
Johnson originally committed to the Trojans, but actually signed with the Mustangs. SMU has released him from his signing. He has four years to play three seasons of eligibility remaining and will do so in his home state, returning to UCF.
Johnson played 452 snaps his true freshman season for UCF. Down the stretch, the former Seminole High standout started four out of the final five games and had a total of 14 tackles with two pass defections. On the season as a whole, he had 18 total tackles.
South Carolina, USC and Auburn are programs he also looked at and he visited Baylor last week as well.
