BREAKING: Troy transfer forward Efe Odigie commits to SMU
SMU landed another transfer commitment when former Troy and UTEP forward Efe Odigie committed on Monday, he announced on Twitter. Odigie snuck into the transfer portal right before the deadline as a grad transfer, making him immediately eligible.
The 6-9 forward averaged 11.5 points and 6.7 rebounds per game last year, earning First Team All-Sunbelt honors. Odigie spent the first three years of his career at UTEP and would have one year of eligibility remaining.
While at UTEP, he suited up in 66 games, making 24 starts. His best season with the Miners came as a freshman. Efe Odigie was named to the 2019 All-Conference USA Freshman team after averaging 12.7 points and 10.1 rebounds.
In 2019-20, Odigie played in 27 games with three starts. He averaged six points and 3.8 rebounds while shooting 50.4 percent from the field. In 2020-21, he was limited to just 14 games of action due to injuries, averaging 5.1 points and 2.8 rebounds.
