4-star DB Tyren Polley commits to SMU
2025 Duncanville (Tex.) defensive back Tyren Polley is fresh off another visit to SMU and announced on Friday his commitment to the Mustangs.
“Coach Lashlee and the whole coaching staff have made me and my family feel like their family,” Polley told On3 of his decision. “It just feels like home.”
Polley made two visits in three weeks to the Hilltop before the dead period, sealing the deal.
“I thought it was great! I love the direction they are moving in and what’s to come for SMU,” Polley said after his first January visit. “I enjoyed the tour of the new facility and the coaches and staff seem genuine.”
From head coach Rhett Lashlee to defensive coordinator Scott Symons, Polley felt like he got plenty of attention on the visit. He was joined by family as well as his teammates, Keelon Russell and Javion Holiday, who are also committed to the Mustangs.
“Coach Lashlee and Coach Symons spending quality time with me and my parents to give us an opportunity to get to know them,” Polley said. “Coach Symons stated how it’s his job to teach us and make sure we know what we’re supposed to know about the game to be successful instead of pushing a player to the side because he isn’t understanding something.

“Felt like they were being truthful and not just telling me things to get me to come there. He (Symons) would like to continue building a relationship and hopes that SMU would be a great fit for me.”
LSU, TCU, Baylor, Kansas, Oregon and Houston are the schools Polley was talking with the most, he reported to On3 before the commitment.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Polley ranks as the No. 235 overall prospect in the country and No. 18 safety nationally.
With Polley on board, SMU now has six commitments in the 2025 recruiting class. He joins four-star DeSoto (Tex.) wide receiver Daylon Singleton, Arlington (Tex.) Mansfield Timberview defensive back Nathan Tilmon, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy defensive back Elijah Pratt, Holiday and Russell.
