WATCH: Rashee Rice, Casey Woods look ahead to TCU defense
SMU wide receiver Rashee Rice, the nation’s leading receiver in 2022, and offensive coordinator Casey Woods met with the media on Tuesday to look back on SMU-Maryland and preview SMU-TCU on Saturday.
Rice had another monster game against Maryland, but is now ready to play in front of a huge crowd in Ford Stadium. The Battle for the Iron Skillet is trending toward a sellout as Sonny Dykes returns to face his former team.
“It’s pretty cool,” Rice said after practice. “I never got to play them here at home so I’m looking forward to defending our home and obviously getting the win.”

Rashee Rice carrying SMU offense in 2022
Rice has dominated this season thanks to his connection with quarterback Tanner Mordecai and the hard work he put in over the offseason. Woods and the rest of Rhett Lashlee’s isn’t afraid that it may be forcing it or overdoing it with Rice’s targets.
“We’re going to give it to the guy that can get the yards for us and make plays. Look, the offense is structured in such a way,” Woods said. “Tanner does a great job distributing it throughout. Obviously, there’s situational times and sometimes it’s the looks that the defense gives ya to give you an opportunity. Shoot, when you hit it as many times as you hit it, then there’s no reservations about getting him the ball or about fear that they’re going to do something.”
