On Monday afternoon, the University of South Carolina Athletics Hall of Fame announced A’ja Wilson among its six-member class for 2025.

The class officially joins the Hall on Oct. 23 at a ceremony hosted by the USC Association of Letterman. The group will be honored during South Carolina’s homecoming football game against Alabama.

Joining Wilson in the Class of 2025 are Natasha Hastings (Track and Field, 2005-07), Paul Jubb (Men’s Tennis, 2016-20), Brandon Hulko (Diving, 1999-2002), Akram Mahmoud (Swimming, 2014-18) and Mollie Patton (Women’s Soccer, 2006-10).

Wilson is the second Dawn Staley-era Gamecock to join the hall, Staley’s first coming in Tiffany Mitchell in 2024. Mitchell’s (2012-16) and Wilson’s careers at South Carolina overlapped for two seasons. Wilson also becomes the tenth women’s basketball player inducted all-time.

Wilson racked up a historical career for the Gamecocks from 2014-18. The program’s first number one overall commit led South Carolina to its first-ever national championship in 2017. One season later in 2018, Wilson unanimously earned the National Player of the Year award. The star forward also won three straight SEC Player of the Year awards and was the program’s first four-time All-American.

Wilson’s success carried into the WNBA, being the number one overall pick by the Las Vegas Aces in 2018. Wilson has since collected three MVPs, two Defensive Player of the Year awards and two WNBA Championships. She is also a seven-time All-Star, former Rookie of the Year and the 2022 Commissioner’s Cup champion.

Wilson was first honored for her career at South Carolina with a statue outside of Colonial Life Arena. Then, on Feb. 2, she watched her jersey be hung in the rafters of that same arena. Wilson holds the South Carolina program record for points (2,389), blocks (363) and blocks per game (2.6).
