Ahmarean Brown NFL bound, South Carolina WR inks free agent deal
The wait may have been long but for former South Carolina wide receiver Ahmarean Brown, it was well worth it.
Following the conclusion on Day 3 of the NFL Draft, Brown’s call has informed GamecockCentral that he’s been signed as an undrafted free agent with the Cleveland Browns. The deal includes a $20,000 signing bonus and $150,000 guaranteed.
Standing at just 5-8, 170 pounds, Brown is coming off his best season as a Gamecock after catching 26 passes for 265 yards and a touchdown. It was his best season of his college career since his freshman year at Georgia Tech in 2020 when he caught seven touchdown passes before transferring to South Carolina ahead of the 2021 season.

In an interview with GamecockCentral earlier in the week, Brown shared how impactful playing at South Carolina was for his game as he prepares for his next chapter of his playing career.
“Being with DLo (Dowell Loggains) with his experience in the NFL was great,” Brown told GamecockCentral. “He taught me and the other guys about just playing football and the things you need to know when you get to the next level. Also coach (Justin) Stepp played a huge role as to where we are today… Him and DLo, just making sure we know the ins and outs, the small details that we need to know at the next level because at the next level, it’s not just about talent because everyone has talent. It’s about knowing those details and doing the small things the right way,”

In addition to contributing at wide receiver, Brown knows that he’ll have to make a difference on special teams in order to stick with a team. A phase of the game he told GamecockCentral he enjoys playing after playing three seasons for former South Carolina special teams coordinator Pete Lembo.
“Playing for coach (Pete) Lembo was one of the biggest blessings in my life. Playing at the next level, for a guy like me, I’m gonna have to play special teams and it’s something that I’m wiling do. Especially with the new format for the kickoff. Just to be able to get the ball in my hands to be able to make some moves, I think it’s gonna be exciting… I can excel not only on kickoff but on punt (returns) too.”
