Blake Jackson shares story behind creating an ever-growing TikTok account
This was new for Blake Jackson. He had never been injured like this before. But here he was, first year at UNC Charlotte, recovering from a broken hand injury.
For Jackson, he ended up getting a medical redshirt year since he only played in 17 games in 2022. With him missing so much time that season, he needed something to fill the void.
“I was in the dugout every game screaming as loud as I could, cheering the guys on. And it kind of just turned into bringing the energy,” Jackson told GamecockCentral’s Jack Veltri in a Garnet Trust exclusive interview.

That’s when it all clicked for Jackson. He created a TikTok account and started to make videos to pass the time as he worked his way back from his injury.
“Started making videos and then from there continue to grow,” Jackson said. “I ended up making them for myself but also to just inspire kids for the love of the game and other aspects of life.”

One of those funny ideas turned out to be one of his more memorable videos. During that 2022 season, Jackson said Charlotte had seven games in a row where there was a rain delay. With some down time, a joke and great video came to fruition.
“I think we won all seven of them. The joke was don’t give us a halftime,” Jackson said. “So in the movie, The Waterboy, Bobby Boucher shows up at halftime and I can’t remember exactly what he said but it was like, ‘Remember when the Mud Dogs won the Bourbon Bowl and Bobby Boucher showed up at halftime?’ And so, I started making them. Some of them started to blow up. But every time we’d have a halftime, I made one. And we started to win. So it just stuck with me.”
Even now since transferring to South Carolina, Jackson has continued to pump out content with his new team. And he doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
