Video: 4-star OL Kam Pringle commits to South Carolina

While South Carolina still has high hopes for National Signing Say for the class of 2023, that doesn’t mean the Gamecocks aren’t looking ahead. Today proved that with Kam Pringle.
Pringle, the consensus No.1 rated offensive tackle for the class of 2024, announced on Sunday his commitment to play at South Carolina. A rising senior at Woodland High, the SC native stands at a whopping 6-8, 340 pounds. Pringle was one of the first players in his class that Shane Beamer offered a scholarship to. That came just three months after beamer arrived at USC. It’s that loyalty that stood out to the number rated player in the state for 2024 that helped him decide to stay home. The four-star chooses the Gamecocks over a long list of a power five schools including Clemson, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and Ohio State.

He becomes the second Gamecock to commit for his class, joining four-star quarterback Dante Reno he committed to USC this past July. But he might not be the last highly touted recruit for the class of 2024 from the Palmetto State to commit to the Gamecocks. According to On3’s recruiting database, South Carolina is the favorite to land both four-star offensive tackle Josiah Thompson from Dillion and four-star athlete Mazeo Bennett from Greenville. Those two are rated as the second and third top prospects from South Carolina for the class of 2024.

While Pringle can’t sign anything to make it official until this upcoming December, at the earliest, he told On3, “When I make the decision, it will be (a) really educated (and) professional decision. “It’s not just gonna be, oh, my friend committed so I’m gonna go there or they said they’re gonna do this. I’m gonna go there. It’s going to be really where I feel comfortable.”
So again, just to clarify because we get this questions a lot, Pringle is currently a junior in high school and is signing for the class of 2024. The second signing day for the class of 2023 will take place on Wednesday Feb. 1.
