Carlton Thompson, also known as 'Gamecock Jesus' passes away
Carlton Thompson, more well-known as Gamecock Jesus, has passed away. His death was confirmed by a family spokesperson Wednesday, according to WIS News 10.
Thompson was battling with prostate cancer.
He was a constant fixture at South Carolina sporting events. You could commonly find him at basketball games throwing his flag in the air anytime the Gamecocks scored or won. But he was a massive supporter of Gamecock athletics in general.
As the news continues to trickle in, more and more tributes to the legendary Gamecock fan have came out on social media.
WIS’ Judi Gatson, who spoke with Thompson back in September, shared a heartfelt message on X, formerly known as Twitter.
