If one player has led South Carolina the most in March, it’s Chloe Kitts.

“I feel like it’s just clicking. I mean, I’m just being more confident and I know (what) my team needs me to do, and I’m gonna try and go out there and do it every night.”

The junior forward is averaging 11.6 points alongside 9.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in the Gamecocks’ three games so far through the 2025 NCAA Tournament. On Friday, Kitts scored the Gamecocks’ first 10 points en route to the team’s fifth straight trip to the Elite Eight.

“I wish I (had) kind of played like that the whole game, but it is what it is,” Kitts said.

Kitts finished the afternoon with 15 points, 11 rebounds and one assist.

Kitts looks to continue her strong start to the tournament against a team that, throughout her career, she matches up well with.

South Carolina faces the Duke Blue Devils for a spot in the NCAA Tournament Final Four Sunday. The two teams faced off previously on Dec. 5 in a contest where Kitts scored 21 points. Kitts also scored 14 points in the 2023-24 season’s game between the two schools in Durham, NC.

“I would say she plays her best (against Duke) and she’s been playing her best for a while now,” Te-Hina Paopao said. “…I’m just really proud of her and knowing that she’s gonna have a really good game tomorrow. I know that for sure.”

Raven Johnson said that Staley said in film that the Jadyn Donovan situation may play a factor in those performances. In the 2023 contest between South Carolina and Duke, Kitts blew a kiss to Donovan after a made shot, resulting in a technical foul on Kitts.

“She has like, animosity probably with Duke because of that,” Raven Johnson said. “But, you know, Chloe’s been playing good basketball lately. Honestly, she wants to win. That’s a really big thing for herself.”

However, Kitts said it’s something she’s never doing again.

“I just kind of got into that game,” Kitts said. “We had got into it and I blew a kiss, but I’m never doing that again.”

Kitts said she doesn’t hate Duke. She acknowledged she plays well against them and hopes to play well again Sunday.
