Every Saturday, College GameDay breaks down the top matchups across the country. As usual, Kirk Herbstreit, Pat McAfee, Desmond Howard, Nick Saban, and Rece Davis made up the College GameDay team. The crew is in Eugene, Oregon for Oregon-Ohio State, but they gave South Carolina-Alabama a little air time, as well. By “a little,” that actually means “very little.”

Veteran panelist Lee Corso was not with GameDay on Saturday. He has been under the weather for the past couple of weeks. Herbstreit also left early to be on the call for the Red River Shootout between Texas and Oklahoma.

(For those wondering, an Oregon fan drilled the weekly 33-yard field goal for $100,000. The South Carolina football fan’s week 3 attempt remains the worst on the show this season.)

GameDay did a segment early in Saturday’s show on Alabama’s bounce-back chances following their loss to Vanderbilt last week. Universally, the cast agreed that the Crimson Tide would be better against South Carolina. That was it.

Unlike last weekend, when it came time to pick the games, the panel didn’t even discuss the game.

No one picked the Gamecocks as their “Superdog” of the week, either.

Generally speaking, when College GameDay skips over a game during its pick segment, it means they believe the outcome is not in question. Alabama has been around a three-touchdown favorite since betting lines opened. The spread is, by far, the largest the Gamecocks have faced this season.

Last week, the majority of the College GameDay crew picked South Carolina to beat Ole Miss. They were wrong. Today, Gamecock fans hope that GameDay is wrong once again.

South Carolina and Alabama will kick off at noon ET on ABC, ESPN+, and the ESPN app.
