Collin Murray-Boyles declares for 2025 NBA Draft

Collin Murray-Boyles has decided on the next step of his basketball career. After two years at South Carolina, the 6-foot-8 forward has officially declared for the 2025 NBA Draft.
“To the city of Columbia and Gamecock Nation, THANK YOU for shaping me into the basketball player and, most importantly, the person I am today,” Murray-Boyles posted to his Instagram. “South Carolina will always be my home! I couldn’t have gotten here without everyone who has been in my corner since day one.”
After a strong first season in which he earned All-Freshman honors, Murray-Boyles didn’t enter his name into the draft last year. Instead, he returned for his sophomore season with the Gamecocks and put up the best numbers of his college career.
Murray-Boyles led the team in almost every major statistical category, including points (16.8), rebounds (8.2), blocks (1.3) and steals (1.5). He made the All-SEC Second Team for his efforts this season.
Overall, he averaged 13.8 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 60 career games with 51 starts at South Carolina. He shot 59.0 percent from the field and 23.1 percent from three-point range. He finished with 11 double-doubles between points and rebounds throughout his career.

With Murray-Boyles forgoing the two remaining years of eligibility he had left, this leaves South Carolina with a big void to fill on the court. So far this offseason, the Gamecocks have been active in the transfer portal, adding five players. They’ve brought in three guards: Treysen Eaglestaff (North Dakota), Meechie Johnson (Ohio State/South Carolina) and Kobe Knox (South Florida). Providence big man Christ Essandoko also committed to Lamont Paris’ program. The latest commitment was Elijah Strong, a power forward from Boston College.
Murray-Boyles joins a list of many Gamecocks who won’t be back with the team next season. Multiple other players have decided to transfer, including Austin Herro, Zachary Davis, Arden Conyers, Nick Pringle, Jamarii Thomas, Cam Scott, Morris Ugusuk and Okku Federiko.
This year’s NBA Draft will take place on June 25-26 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. If selected, Murray-Boyles will be the second Gamecock drafted in the past three seasons (GG Jackson in 2023). If taken in the first round, he will be the first from South Carolina taken that high since Renaldo Balkman in 2006.
