Colten Gauthier previews upcoming NIL concert, talks spring football
South Carolina quarterback Colten Gauthier is in the midst of spring practice with his team, but also has a big event coming up later this month.
The redshirt freshman, also a talented guitarist, is set to put on the first-of-its-kind virtual concert on Saturday, April 9. The event, billed as the Garnet Trust Jam with Colten Gauthier, was conceived as part of a NIL agreement between the Georgia native and Garnet Trust. Tickets are $10 each and are on sale now here.
Gauthier joined Chris Clark this week for an exclusive Garnet Trust interview. During the conversation, Gauthier broke down how things are going with Gamecock football, what he thinks of Shane Beamer’s energy, and brought forth plenty of talk about music. “We really do have a tight, close relationship,” Gauthier said of the Gamecocks’ current quarterback room during the interview. “We have a group chat and all communicate and talk. It’s great to have a group of guys that share the same goals as you do and want to compete against each other.”

The second-year passer also weighed in on head coach Shane Beamer’s coaching style.
“Coach Beamer does everything right. We feel his energy every day. He brings the energy every day in practice. He lifts us up, too. People have probably seen clips of him last season running up and down the sideline and taking his headphones off and cheering, dapping everybody up. He doesn’t change. He stays the same, he’s like that during practice when nobody is watching. We as players appreciate that. It’s real, it’s genuine. We feel that during practice. It elevates our game. You might have some coaches at other places where you get to game day and they act one way. We’re fortunate. Coach Beamer, he’s one way all the time.”
Gauthier played his high school football at Hebron Christian Academy in Dacula, Georgia. He played in 34 games at that level, passing for over 6,500 yards and 61 touchdowns to go along with 17 scores on the ground during his career.
As a true freshman in Columbia last season, Gauthier enrolled early, going through spring drills with the Gamecocks. He played in one game, the season opener against Eastern Illinois, completing his only pass attempt of the season.
