Priority South Carolina QB target Dylan Lonergan moves up in On3 rankings
Priority South Carolina recruiting target Dylan Lonergan continues to impress recruiting analysts and was listed as one of the major risers in the updated On300 for the class of 2023 that was released on Monday.
The four-star quarterback and priority South Carolina target is now listed as the No. 122 overall prospect and the No. 7 quarterback in his class by On3.
On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power offered some thoughts on Lonergan’s progress:
Lonergan (No. 122) continued to show improvement as a junior at Brookwood (Ga.) Snellville. Several top skill players transferred out of the program, but Lonergan still put up some impressive production. The 6-foot-1, 220-pounder is a well-rounded quarterback with the ability to make some creative plays out of structure. He accounted for over 4,000 yards and 40 touchdowns from scrimmage and only threw two interceptions. Lonergan is also a top baseball prospect. He’s visited Georgia, Georgia Tech and South Carolina over the past few months and also has offers from the likes of Alabama, Ohio State, North Carolina, Stanford and more.
The recruiting industry as a whole is equally, if not more so, high on Lonergan’s ability.
The On3 Consensus – a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies – has Lonergan as the No. 73 overall prospect, No. 8 quarterback, and No. 5 prospect in Georgia. ESPN is highest on the talented signal-caller, listing him as the No. 43 overall prospect in the country.
Lonergan, also a highly rated prospect on the baseball field and possible MLB Draft pick, has long been the top target for South Carolina quarterbacks coach Marcus Satterfield.

The dual-sport standout has taken multiple South Carolina recruiting visits and was most recently in Columbia in January for a junior day.
The Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) currently lists North Carolina as the favorite to land Lonergan, but that’s misleading since the Tar Heels already have a QB committed for the 2023 class and don’t appear to be in the mix anymore. The RPM lists South Carolina, Georgia, and Georgia Tech in the next wave of schools giving each a 15 percent chance of landing Lonergan.
The RPM combines data such as expert predictions, prospect visits, social sentiment and historical outcomes on an AI platform to predict results. The Algorithm is built to learn from past results and thus improve over time.
