Dylan Stewart making strong first impression in veteran EDGE room

“Probably just the natural, God-given size and ability,” said Beamer. “He’s big, he can run, he can jump, he’s physical. He’s not your typical freshman, without a doubt. Obviously, he was very highly recruited for a reason. You notice him but, you don’t notice him in regards for the wrong reasons. He’s just steady.”
Considered the No.12 overall prospect by On3 for the class of 2024, Stewart is one of the highest ranked commitments in Gamecock history. Competing in a talented and experienced EDGE room, depth is depth is deep. But that hasn’t slowed down the true freshman from finding ways to stand out.

“(He) does his job day in and day out and has fit in well with that group. To me, continuing to learn the techniques that we want him to play with and the techniques that we are coaching and the effort we want to play with. He’s doing a lot of really good things for us out there right now.”
Stewart joins an EDGE room that includes Bryan Thomas Jr., Desmond Umeozulu, Elijah Davis, Jatius Geer, Kyle Kennard and Gilber Edmond. Combined, those six played in 63 games last season. The Gamecocks will return to field for practice No.7 on Thursday before holding their first inter-squad scrimmage on Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium.
