As Washington (D.C.) Friendship Collegiate class of 2024 five-star EDGE Dylan Stewart begins his South Carolina official visit weekend, On3’s No. 1 prospect in the country also released his Top 5 on Friday afternoon.

The Gamecocks obviously made the cut, joining Ohio State, Georgia, Miami, and Maryland among his top — and likely final — five schools.

GeorgiaMarylandMiamiOhio State and South Carolina are my top five schools,” Stewart told On3’s Chad Simmons. “I like the coaches at all five schools, and my visits to each school have been good. I have gotten it down to these schools and I plan to commit sometime before the season.”

Those schools should largely come as no surprise considering Stewart took official visits to UGA, Miami, and OSU with his South Carolina official visit set to begin at any moment and to continue through Sunday. While Maryland isn’t considered as big a factor as the other schools listed, they are considered the “hometown” school for prospects from D.C.

“South Carolina has been consistent with me,” Stewart said. “Coach Shane Beamer and Coach Sterling Lucas have done a good job recruiting me. I have enjoyed my visits down there and I like what they are trying to build.”

During the On3 NIL Elite Series presented by Mizuno, Stewart told On3’s Chad Simmons that one program in particular was doing the best job recruiting him: South Carolina.

“I like what Coach Beamer is doing, I see what he’s trying to build. And I might want to be part of that,” he said. He’s building a good program,” Stewart said.

On3 has Stewart as not only the No. 1 EDGE prospect in his class but also the No. 1 overall prospect.

The On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted formula that averages the four major recruiting media entities, ranks Stewart as the No. 7 overall prospect and No. 2 EDGE in his class. He is the consensus top prospect in D.C. and a five-star on three of the four services.

The 6-foot-5.5, 240-pound prospect is being recruited to Carolina by assistant Sterling Lucas who has worked hard to build a strong relationship with the priority pass-rusher.

On3 Evaluation of Dylan Stewart

Disruptive pass rusher who looks to be one of the top defensive prospects in the 2024 cycle. Shows a quick first step. Fires off the ball with the ability to quickly redirect with lateral agility. Dips and bends around the edge, showing some encouraging flexibility and curvilinear movement. Also plays low and gets underneath the pads of opposing offensive linemen. Has good size and stature checking in at 6-foot-5, 230 pounds with an 81-inch wingspan prior to his senior season. Will need to continue progressing from a strength and technical perspective as he continues through his high school career.
