Early line is out for South Carolina vs. Georgia
The early line is out for South Carolina’s SEC opener against Georgia, and as one would expect the Gamecocks are a heavy underdog against the two-time defending national champion.
The Bulldogs opened on Sunday as a 26-point point favorite when Circa Sports released its lines.
The book set the over/under for the matchup at 47 1/2 points.

South Carolina (1-1, 0-0 SEC) got into the win column on Saturday night at Williams-Brice Stadium with a 47-21 win over Furman. After a somewhat slow start to the matchup, Carolina scored twice before the half and then controlled the second half to cruise to a win.
Georgia is off to a 2-0 start after doing what it was expected to do against two overmatched opponents. Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs opened the year with a 48-7 win over UT Martin followed by a 45-3 victory over Ball State this past week.
South Carolina last defeated Georgia in 2019. Last year, the Bulldogs rolled to a 48-7 win over the Gamecocks in Columbia.
This year’s matchup is scheduled for a 3:30 kickoff from Athens with CBS carrying the action.

What Shane Beamer said after win over Furman
By Jack Veltri
Beamer thanked the Cockpit, South Carolina’s student section, for showing up big. Fans were awesome tonight. He’s excited to see what the crowds are like when SEC play ramps up at Williams-Brice Stadium.
Didn’t expect to give up a double pass in double coverage to start the game. Points out this happened against ECU in 2021.
Beamer thought the end of the first half from the offense was huge for the momentum. Scored two touchdowns in 43 seconds, which was huge.

Points out Spencer Rattler’s awareness of the clock to be able to put together solid drives with under a minute left in the first half. Calls him a special talent, more so an elite talent.
It was awesome to get a lot of young guys tonight. Nyck Harbor came over after his touchdown to thank Beamer. Beamer responded by saying thank you for coming to South Carolina.

Really disappointed with the way the game ended. South Carolina turned the ball over, had a penalty and allowed a touchdown in the final minutes. Have a lot to prove heading into Georgia next week.
Ahmarean Brown pleaded to come back into the game but Beamer wouldn’t let it happen. Brown is dealing with a hamstring injury.
He thought they did some good things in the run game but were sloppy with penalties. Thought the offensive line protected well. Three true freshmen played on the line and did a very good job. Have to block better on the perimeter.
