Following South Carolina’s 75-59 win over Ole Miss on Thursday, head coach Dawn Staley spoke in a postgame interview with ESPN. Here is everything she said.

What did you think about Chloe Kitts’ triple-double tonight?

“I mean, it was the hard way. It was really the hard way. It was the playmaking, determination, will. It was Chloe Kitts. Chloe Kitts has this in her, and she couldn’t be playing her best basketball at the right time. I think we are all eager toward playing like everybody at the right time. So, hopefully, we can get hot. We can take care of Sunday and see where we end up.”

Coach, Ole Miss hung around in this and only trailed by four at halftime. You guys are able to pull away for the end of this game. What made the difference for South Carolina to get the win?

“Well, I think we just made plays. I feel we disrupted their offense a little bit. I thought we played with a certain level of toughness. We rebounded the basketball, we stayed in plays defensively. We made big shots, we shared the basketball. Yeah, we turned it over a little bit as well, but I thought we displayed a want to win, and we got the win. And you need that coming into a place like this where they pack the house. Yolett (McPhee-McCuin) has done a tremendous job with this basketball team. They will be in the NCAA tournament. This is a hard place to play, and I don’t like coming here.”

Coach, Ole Miss is definitely a hard place to play. Congratulations on the win. It looked like you were going to say, “We will see where we will end up on the coin-flip.” But I am just going to skip that. We are going to act like you were not about to say that part.

“Right now, we are fighting. We are fighting for our lives. We got a really good Kentucky team. They did a really good job today beating Tennessee, so I know they will be ready to rock and roll on Sunday. Hopefully, our fans will pack Colonial Life Arena to send our seniors off, and we find a way to win another basketball game for this tough, best conference in the country.”

You said ready to rock and roll. And that is what Sania Feagin was tonight, coach: 20-point performance. She was officiant, 10-of-13 from the field and 22 points. Let me go ahead and put some respect on her points tonight. How would you describe the way Feagin played and stepped up?

“Feagin just did her job. I mean, Feagin got offensive rebounds, got dumps from our post players and our guards giving her the ball. She made layups. And that is something that Joyce Edwards does. She makes layups. MiLaysia (Fulwiley) makes layups. Chloe Kitts makes layups. When you can make layups, you can up your average six to eight points just by doing that. I thought that Feagin did a great job being efficient and being at the right place at the right time a lot tonight.”
