On the starting quarterback job
“I think it’s a competition. I just gotta really work on me, do my job, make sure everything’s right going with me. I’m not worried about everything else, like the outside talking stuff. So, just focusing on me and just getting better every day.”
On his performance in the spring game
“I think I did pretty good. We moved the ball. We scored. Kept the ball safe, so, I mean, that’s the most important thing.”

On what South Carolina’s offense can look like moving forward
“Very excited once everything starts coming together. We’re still learning the system and stuff. Like you said, it was vanilla tonight. I don’t know, I don’t want to say too much — but we’re learning the system, and it’s coming along good.”

On embracing his role with the South Carolina football team
“I’m really just, like I said earlier, taking it one day at a time. Not getting ahead of myself, not worrying about the past — just focusing on the present is the biggest thing. And also, I want to thank the fans tonight. A great environment, as always — the best environment in college football.”
On whether he has put himself into contention for starting role
“I think I have. But, you know, there’s always things to improve on and get better at. So (I’m) just going to see how this may go, come back in the summer ready to work.”
