Everything LaNorris Sellers said after the 31-6 win at Kentucky
LaNorris Sellers passed for 159 yards and two touchdowns and led South Carolina to a win in his first career road start. Read what he said after the game.
Q: Can you take us through the first touchdown?
Sellers: We’ve been practicing that play for a while now. We just knew that we high-lowed that defender right there. If he took the flat we had that if he dropped back we had the flat. We just practiced it all week and go out there and execute it.
Q: LaNorris did you dance or celebrate in the locker room?
Sellers: I did what I could. I was happy. I’m not really a dancer but I celebrated.
Q: How do you make sure that whether you have a good or bad game it isn’t a blanket statement for you?
Sellers: I really just take it day-by-day. People are going to say what they want to say regardless, no matter if you do good or bad. When you’re down, they’re going to talk down, when you’re up they’re going to praise you, so I just take it game-by-game.
Q: You had some receivers step up and it seemed like you were seeing the field a lot better in the second half, did you feel more comfortable?
Sellers: I felt a lot more comfortable than last week. I just had to get that game in my system. Once we started rolling, started getting completions, started moving the ball I feel like we were going.
Q: So you felt pretty good all game?
Sellers: Yeah, yeah.

Q: Was there ever any doubt you were going to be able to keep going when you left the game in the first half?
Sellers: No. I knew I was going to come back in. I wasn’t going to play one drive and l come out the rest of the game. You don’t want to do that, especially on the road. It was never my decision to sit out.
Q: It looked like you were pointing at your hip, what happened?
Sellers: I’m not really sure what happened. It was just kind of sore, but it’s fine now.
Q: They said they took you to the locker room for some stretching or something?
Sellers: Stretching. They were just checking me out, asking how I was feeling and stuff.

Q: Do you feel like this was a growing up game for you?
Sellers: Yeah. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. Just adversity, taking it play-by-play. You can’t look ahead too far, can’t dwell on the past, so you just go out there and play.
Q: What happened on the third down pass to Mazeo Bennet in the third quarter?
Sellers: I mean, he just got open, honestly. I don’t think there was much thought into it. He just got open. I saw him late. They pressured, I stepped up and saw him down the sideline.
Q: Was there anything that felt different today with the receivers?
Sellers: I just felt more comfortable, honestly. We had the timing down. We had chemistry down. We still need to work, still need to get better at it obviously. We practiced it, put last week behind us, learned from it, and brought it this week.
Q: You fumbled a couple of times, how do you feel about your ball security?
Sellers: They just caught me when my hands were breaking to throw the ball, that’s all it was. It wasn’t a ball security thing. I take that very seriously. Last week I fumbled too, so I always take it very seriously. They just caught me when I was breaking my hands going to through the ball.
Q: Both times?
Sellers: Both times, yep.
Q: What did you use as motivation this week?
Sellers: They said what they said last week but we wasn’t worried about that. We went through the game plan and it was all us. We made mistakes, we put us in those holes, we had to get better, and that’s what we did.
