Everything LaNorris Sellers said previewing Alabama matchup
South Carolina starting quarterback LaNorris Sellers spoke to the media on Tuesday to assess his play and preview the Gamecocks’ upcoming matchup against Alabama this weekend. Here’s what he had to say.
On if he’s found one glaring issue from the first five games about the third-down struggles
“Yeah, it really just comes down to execution. We gotta do ti. It has to do with communication, just small things — nothing big. But we’ve just go out there and do it.”

On what it’s been like working with senior offensive assistant coach Mike Shula
“He’s been a lot of help for me, just because he’s worked with guys like Josh Allen and Cam Newton. He brings a lot to the table in the read option game, helping us protect ourselves as not only passing, but runners as well. Just being patient and letting stuff develop.”
On what he’s seen from the offensive line protection when he’s in the pocket
“I mean, they just retrace, really. They’re blocking for the time of the specific play. So it’s like, if it’s not open at the specific time, they’re just retracing, trying to clean out a pocket. If I’m rolling out, they’re looking back for guys that’s chasing me.”
On how the team approaches Alabama this week
“We just prepare for them like Alabama. Another team, another game. Just have to be prepared like any other game.”

On what he saw on tape from Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia in the Alabama game that he feels he can exploit
“Yeah, just a lot of things like QB run. They play physical, he played physical. He wasn’t afraid to take hits and stuff like that. He just played with an edge about him. So, we just got to go out there and do that.”
On the game plan behind not throwing much downfield on Saturday
“I mean, it just wasn’t there, really. We had stuff called. (Ole Miss) dropped out of zone coverage. We just had to drop it down where they weren’t.”
