Q: What do you want to tell people about this edition of the Gamecocks, the 2025 team?
A: “Yes, sir. So we brought in a couple guys—running back position, brought in some receivers, offensive linemen, some linebackers. Just filling in the pieces that we lost last year to the draft and stuff like that.”
Q: What did you learn about yourself playing quarterback for the Gamecocks last year?
A: “Just taking one game at a time. Not getting ahead of myself. Just trust myself, being confident.”
Q: What did you do well last year?
A: “Extended plays, made plays when they weren’t there.”
Q: What are you trying to improve upon this season?
A: “Just more anticipation, footwork, stuff like that. Building that chemistry and trusting the guys around me.”
Q: Who were the quarterbacks you watched growing up, and who do you watch now?
A: “Cam Newton, Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, guys like that. Russell Wilson. And then Aaron Rodgers now, guys like Lamar Jackson, Justin Fields, Caleb Williams, Jalen Hurts.”
Q: How does Shane Beamer coach you?
A: “He’s just coaching me how he coaches everybody else. He’s probably harder on the quarterbacks actually than he is the rest of the team, but just being there all the time, he’s in our offensive staff meetings, QB meetings, stuff like that. So he’s always there.”
Q: What has your offensive coordinator done to help you become a better quarterback?
A: “Just being harder on me. I mean, I’ve always been coached hard, but he’s just staying on me about the little things like the footwork, the details, stuff like that.”

Q: What do you want to tell everyone about some of the newcomers to the team?

Q: What’s your height and weight now?
A: “Like 6-foot-4, 240 (pounds). I played last season around 235, but with the lifting and all that now, I’m a little bit heavier just because we lifted.”
Q: What type of pass or throw do you want to improve?
A: “I would say intermediate throws, stuff like that. Anticipation throws and all that.”
Q: How are you working on that?
A: “Just routes versus air. A lot of routes versus air, walking through, just throwing passes.”

A: “Yes, sir. I am looking forward to it.”
