Have the South Carolina coaches told you about getting on the field more?

“There are conversations throughout the week. They‘re telling me to do everything right on the field and that’s what I do. I do whatever they ask me to do. That’s pretty much it. I just prepare like a pro during the week.”

How did you envision this season going after your bowl performance?

“I feel like after that bowl win, going into the summer and recovering, I feel like I was going to take off this year.”

Were you expecting to only have nine snaps Saturday?

“I wasn’t expecting to only have nine snaps. I was expecting to have a big game. That didn’t happen. So on to the next week. We’re just preparing for Vanderbilt this week. I’m just trying to prepare like a pro, like I said before, and try to get ready to have a big week.”

How frustrating has the lack of touches been?

“It’s very frustrating going through the week knowing you’re going to get the ball and it doesn’t happen. It’s frustrating. But I try to let that go after Sunday and Monday and try to come in the building today, Tuesday, and be positive and prepare like a pro.”

What does success look like for you over the last four weeks?

“Success to me is to just finish the season healthy and be the best football player I can be for this team.”

Have you and the South Carolina coaches talked about why you’re being rotated?

“Some of it is a personnel issue but I feel like I can be a dynamic player in any personnel (package). It’s not a conversation about why I’m not out there. It just happens, but mostly it’s a personnel issue.”

How key are mental reps for you on the sideline?

“Mental reps are big on the sideline knowing what the defense is going to do when you go out there. Just prepare throughout the game, prepare like a pro, and see what that defense is going to do when you’re on the sideline.”

What do you remember about South Carolina’s game against Vandy last year?

We started off that game pretty well. That touchdown was pretty electric to the crowd and got the crowd off their feet. Going into that second half, that was a little rough for us, but we battled back like we always do. We’re a second-half team. We’ve heard that a lot. We came back and Zeb came in and got the win for us.”

How do you feel like you’ve grown over the last few weeks?

“Throughout the season, I feel like I’ve gotten better in the blocking game. I’ve put a couple of people on their backs that people didn’t expect me to. I feel like I’ve gotten better in the blocking game.”

How can this offense be more explosive and more consistent?

“We just have to lock in and focus. We don’t need to look too far ahead, lock in on this week and lock in on Vanderbilt, get the keys to the game and go execute.”

How does South Carolina’s offense not allow frustration to set in?

“Just stay together. Don’t let people get in groups or packs and talk negatively. Just stay in one group, stay positive about it and try to move on.”
