Exclusive interview with Spencer Rattler
Spencer Rattler recently sat down with GamecockCentral.com’s Chris Clark for a one-on-one interview.
The conversation, which took place during a Garnet Trust-sponsored event at the “CB90 House” last weekend, covered multiple topics.
Rattler revealed that he is planning to participate in South Carolina’s bowl game later this month, looked back on a thrilling end to the season for Gamecock football, and looked ahead to his decision to return or not for another season in Columbia.
Please note that this interview was conducted last Saturday; the South Carolina football program had not yet learned a bowl destination at that time. Watch the full interview below.

“I’m definitely going to play in the bowl game,” Rattler said during the conversation. “You know, finish out strong here with my team.”
The South Carolina football program will take part in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl against Notre Dame on December 30 at 3:30 p.m.
Garnet Trust previously signed Rattler to a multi-month content and endorsement NIL agreement back in January of 2022.
The redshirt junior is still mulling his future between returning to Columbia for another season or declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft.

“I’ll decide what I want to do after the bowl game. It’s definitely up in the air. I’ll talk to my family, coaches, so I’ll make an informed decision,” the redshirt junior said.

Rattler is in the process of getting feedback on his NFL prospects and has also had conversations with head coach Shane Beamer. A search is underway to hire a new offensive coordinator.
When it comes to his decision, there are multiple angles for Spencer Rattler to consider.
“There’s multiple factors,” he said. “Personal, football-wise, but I’m just going to finish the season out with the bowl game. That’s my focus right now. After that, all decisions will be made.”

“There is time to make that decision. They don’t have to declare for the draft here for another month or so. He wants to make a sound, thorough decision. He’s got plenty of time to do that,” Shane Beamer said during a recent appearance on 107.5 The Game. “Like I told him, we’ll support him with whatever he decides to do. We want to arm him and his family and people with as much information as we can and make the best decision for his future.”
During his 2022 season for Gamecock football, Rattler completed over 66 percent of his passes for 2,780 yards. He accounted for 16 touchdowns through the air and an additional 3 scores rushing.
