Final injury report for South Carolina vs. Kentucky
South Carolina and Kentucky have released their final injury update for today’s matchup as part of the SEC’s new mandatory player availability report requirement.
The new rule requires SEC teams, when facing an SEC opponent, to release a player availability update each day, starting Wednesday evening, leading up to a final report 90 minutes before kickoff, 2 p.m. in the case of today’s 3:30 kickoff between the Gamecocks and Wildcats.

South Carolina’s gameday entry listed offensive lineman Jakai Moore and defensive back Emory Floyd as out, just as the Friday update did.
Defensive back David Spaulding, EDGE Gilber Edmond, EDGE Bryan Thomas Jr., and linebacker Bengally Kamara were not on Saturday’s update after being listed on the week’s previous entries, meaning presumably they’re available today.
Shane Beamer last spoke about the injuries Thursday night during his call-in show.
“I think we’re in pretty good shape with those guys,” Beamer said Thursday. “Jakai Moore obviously is out and will be for a while. The rest of those guys all practiced (Thursday) and we feel good about and we’ll see how they continue to progress. Emory Floyd is listed as doubtful and there hasn’t been much change to that, but those other guys, we feel good about, and obviously we’ve got a little bit less than 48 hours until we have to play.”

Thomas, Floyd, and Spaulding did not play in the season opener, while Kamara played sparingly.
Moore, who was set to be the Gamecocks’ “swing man” due to his ability to play tackle and guard, is going to be out for a while. That’s also the case for reserve offensive lineman AJ Parks, though he wasn’t listed on the report.
Redshirt freshman safety Zahbari Sandy is out for the season after suffering a knee injury during spring practice.

The SEC recently approved a player availability injury report system for football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball.
SEC school personnel must submit availability reports three days before each football game, with daily updates leading to a final report 90 minutes before game time. For basketball and baseball, reports are filed the night before, with an update on game day.
According to the SEC, penalties for inaccurate or late reports will range from $25,000 to $100,000 for football and anywhere from $15,000 to $25,000 for basketball and baseball.
When schools submit injury reports, players will be designated as available, probable, doubtful, and questionable before game day. On game day, designations will be available, game-time decision or out. The model follows injury reports similar to the NFL.
