Five predictions for South Carolina vs. Missouri
South Carolina football is back on the road on Saturday to take on the Missouri Tigers. GamecockCentral.com’s staff is here with some predictions of what will take place inside Faurot Field tomorrow afternoon.
CHRIS CLARK: Missouri quarterback Brady Cook has played quite well this season, although his three interceptions on the season have both come in the last two games.
Spencer Rattler’s also had a strong season, of course. I think Rattler has the better day of the two from a statistical standpoint, with the Gamecocks’ quarterback ultimately throwing for more yardage than his Missouri counterpart.

WES MITCHELL: There will be some special teams shenanigans in this one. Much like the Gator Bowl against Notre Dame, when you had a battle of two special teams that were difference-makers for their respective squads, you’ve got two very bold coaching staffs in their approach to that part of the game.
The Gamecocks will likely need to steal a possession at some point if they’re unable to turn the Tigers over. And Mizzou has not only used the “muddle huddle” that Pete Lembo uses quite a bit but completely turned the game last week against Kentucky with a fake punt. Expect special teams craziness in this one.

KENDALL SMITH: Well, the Gamecocks have been pretty successful in executing special teams trick plays this season, they just haven’t been able to capitalize on them when it comes to actually scoring.

This week is a must-win and South Carolina knows it, so I’m saying they pull out all the stops on special teams, show Mizzou a little Beamer Ball, and finally score off a special teams trick play.

JACK VELTRI: believe Nyck Harbor’s time is seriously coming. When South Carolina falls behind early and is forced to start throwing the ball more, I’m expecting Harbor to get some targets.
Missouri will probably be covering Xavier Legette heavily, so that’s where Harbor comes into the picture. It’s time. He needs to get him the ball more. I won’t give exact totals but I think he’ll snag a touchdown.
MIKE UVA: South Carolina’s defense desperately needs a confidence boost. What’s one of the easiest ways to be able to do that? Create turnovers. When you’ve only forced seven turnovers through six games, I’d say it’s a bold prediction to say that the Gamecocks will force two against the Tigers.
