Five predictions for the South Carolina/Furman game
South Carolina returns to Williams-Brice Stadium for the first time since last season’s thrilling win over Tennessee. The Gamecocks are set to take on Furman, and GamecockCentral.com’s staff is back with more predictions of what will take place on the field on Saturday night.
Chris Clark: I predicted this last year at one point, and it didn’t happen. Mike predicted it last week, and it didn’t happen. I’ve got Ahmarean Brown finally registering his first touchdown as a Gamecocks player.

Wes Mitchell: South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers will be among the many Gamecock freshmen to make their college debuts on Saturday. With Luke Doty playing snaps at receiver, and showing last week that he can definitely help the team there, that increased the likelihood that we’ll see Sellers sooner than later, in my opinion.
South Carolina seemed hesitant to throw its freshmen into a big-game atmosphere last week, but Shane Beamer has said all offseason that the young guys are going to play. The Gamecocks not only need a boost to their running game, which the 245-pound Sellers could provide, but they’ll also want to give Georgia and Mississippi State something extra to prepare for. All of that adds up to South Carolina fans getting their first real-game look at No. 16 on offense.

Kendall Smith: Despite the loss last week, South Carolina still won the turnover battle and I expect the same for this week. Even though Furman has a solid offense, I think the Gamecocks, especially in the second half, will force a couple of turnovers, with one even resulting in a defensive score.

Collyn Taylor: This one is interesting because we thought we’d know what this team was to a degree but right now it’s hard to know what to expect after a tough opener. One thing I will say is I think there will be a ton of newcomers who see time this week just to get a sense of where they’re at right now in their development.

I predict Nyck Harbor scores his first touchdown for South Carolina this week against Furman and Drew Tuazama picks up his first sack with the Gamecocks. Harbor is going to have to keep getting his feet wet, and an athlete like that is going to have some chances to score in this game. Tuazama got his feet wet last week and now might have a shot at playing 30 to 40 snaps. If he does, someone that productive can get to the quarterback.
Mike Uva: A week after the line struggled to protect Spencer Rattler, the OL will bounce back and allow their star QB to throw for four touchdown passes in what will be another dominating performance from number 7.
