Florida tight end commits to South Carolina
One of South Carolina football’s multiple #WelcomeHomes from over the weekend was revealed today in the form of a 2025 tight end from the state of Florida.
Jupiter (Fla.) Benjamin School three-star Preston Douglas pulled the trigger toward the end of his official visit to Columbia on Saturday before going public today.

“Loved the visit,” Douglas told GamecockCentral. “They did a very good job entertaining me and my family and making sure all the recruits had a good time. What led me to South Carolina was not only the way they wanna use me on the field but really how they made me at home and feel like family. A bunch of great coaches that are great people.”
Douglas was recruited to the Gamecocks by tight ends coach and running game coordinator Shawn Elliott. He is their first tight end commits in the 2025 class.
The first trip to Columbia for the 6-foot-3, 225-pounder took place back in April, when he also praised the staff.

“I really like all the coaches, like Coach (Ryan) Yurachek (analyst) and Coach (Shawn) Elliott,” Douglas told GamecockCentral.com after the spring trip “We had a great talk, just really bonded. Then I had a tour of all the things, got to see some practice, and talk some more. The facilities are nice, but the whole staff is really cool, too.

Douglas chose South Carolina over other offers from NC State, FIU, Wake Forest, and South Florida.
He had originally planned to take an official to NC State but it doesn’t appear likely that visit will take place.
Douglas has an 87 rating from On3 and is considered the No. 43 tight end prospect in the country and the No. 101 overall prospect in Florida for his class.
