South Carolina’s 2025 commitment list picked up another big-time prospect when Virginia four-star Kendall Daniels chose the Gamecocks.

Daniels picked the Gamecocks over a list of scholarship offers that included the likes of Alabama, Clemson, Duke, Miami, Penn State, Texas A&M, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.

His final three was Clemson, South Carolina, and Virginia Tech. Daniels was recruited to Carolina by defensive backs coach Torrian Gray.

“It was a great weekend down there,” Daniels said of his official visit to Columbia, who took place the weekend of June 21. “Bonding with the teammates. I had a great time in South Carolina. The bonding with the teammates (stands out), the culture, they’re all as one. I like how Coach Beamer got his program, how T-Gray runs stuff, and everything”

Daniels is a former high school teammate of current South Carolina freshman linebacker Fred “JayR” Johnson. As a junior, he helped Maury to an undefeated, state championship season.

“Fred is my dog, I talked to him almost every weekend,” Daniels said. “We’ve got a bond that nobody could break. Me and him been dogs since we met, since elementary, middle school. So that’s been my dog the whole time. He’s been helping me with the process. So it’s been great meeting with him, having fun with him.”

Daniels is ranked as the number 284 prospect in the country according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average of all four major recruiting services. He is tabbed as the seventh-best prospect in the state of Virginia and as the country’s 24th-best safety prospect.
