Gamecock community reacts to passing of Tommy Moody
On Tuesday night, 107.5 The Game radio host Jay Phillips posted on social media that longtime South Carolina baseball color analyst Tommy Moody has passed away.
Moody, who graduated from South Carolin in 1972, had done color commentating for Gamecocks baseball since 2000.
Since this news was shared, hundreds of both current and former Gamecock coaches, as well as media members and fans in the USC community have took to social media to react to the devastating news.
We lost one of the most genuine, authentic people in our community today. Tommy Moody was always a pleasure to be around. I loved our talks of all things Gamecocks, baseball, and history. They will stay with me for a long time. We will miss you greatly Tommy. Rest in peace.

We mourn the passing of Tommy Moody, a Gamecock great and the baseball analyst on the Gamecock Sports Network. Tommy bled Garnet and Black and his signature calls were known to Gamecock fans around the world. RIP Tommy

There was never a bad day with you. Thankful for every room, ride, booth, text, and postgame toast we got to share. And I know you were far prouder of your daughters and grandkids than any title. You spread a light that’ll stay with all of us. Love you partner.

Been trying to put into words my feelings for hours. Tommy was the best broadcast partner imaginable. Probably the nicest person I ever knew. Loved his family, the Gamecocks & baseball as much as anyone. Our road-trips were the best. I’ll miss him more than I can explain.

Beyond shocked to hear of the loss of one of my former cohorts, Tommy Moody. They don’t make ’em any better. We shared SEC tournaments, game-clinching trips to Omaha, walk-off HR’s and more. The only thing stronger than Tommy’s for baseball was the friendship he gave. RIP.

Heartbreaking Tommy Moody is no longer with us. Prayers to Tommy’s family. Told me last spring before a midweek game ”You have been one of the best third base coaches we’ve ever had.” Got Moose hosed at the plate by a mile the same game. All was good though because TM said so.
